Auto Parts: MB S430 Trunk, 1998 bmw 740il, bmw 740il

I recently bought a certified pre-owned S430 4Matic.  It's really great, but I have one minor problem that just bugs me. The trunk lid is not automatic, and it sounds like a truck when I open it (either from inside the car or the key fob) and is difficult to close.  I had a 1998 BMW 740iL with a manual trunk, but it closed easily and smoothly.  Are there other pneumatic struts that I can replace these with that would take care of the problem?  How much would it cost (I already know it will be too much) to add the automatic close for the trunk.  It's a minor issue, but, as I said, it  bothers me.  Thanks.

Hi Mark,

I don't think anyone makes a conversion kit for that problem. MB usually puts about a million carpet-panels on everything to deaden noises so I'd check to see that ALL the sound panels are in your vehicle. If they are, you can always take your car to a place where they install aftermarket stereo equipment as they also usually have ways to deaden sounds. It will be a small cost to get what you want.
