Auto Parts: rear ride height, profile tires, repair knowledge

Question
I drive a 94 325is.  I have lower profile tires (235-40R-17) so my car naturally rides very low to the ground.  Just this week I began to hear a scraping of my drivers rear tire during any acceleration or uphill assent.  When I tried to jack up the car from that jack point, the car body would rise and rise but it would not actually lift the tire off the ground.  I assume the part I need is a strut assembly…is this correct?  Is this something someone of basic car repair knowledge (and service guide) can attempt or should I take it to a professional?  Thanks so much.

Answer
Hi Scott,

I'd like to help you, but without actually looking at the car, I would only be wasting my time guessing. Take it to a reputable service shop in your area.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
