Auto Parts: Windshield Wiper, wiper assembly, position thanks

Question
How do i take each wiper assembly off the linkage drive? I have a 1988 Olds 98.  The is a very small angled metal projection on the side. Tried using a screwdriver to release the assembly but to no avail. THANKS!

Hi Robert,

There are two different styles of wiper arm attachment.
Bolt-on style:
Remove the cover and lock-nut from the wiper arm you need to adjust and pull it straight-off. Re-align it and tighten down the lock-nut.
Clip style (this is the design you have):
raise the end of the wiper arm up toward the sky until it stops, pull the small metal tab from the base of the arm where it attaches to the wiper transmission, it'll only move a small amount, and then pull the arm straight-up. Re-align and push the clip back into position.
