Auto Parts: Nissan Altima Rear Brakes, nissan altima gxe, original equipment manufacturer

Question
How long on average do you think rear brakes for a 2001 Nissan Altima GXE should be expected to last?  My car has approx 80K miles on it.  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Klarina,

Nice name BTW, never heard that one before.

Your brakes (OEM-Original Equipment Manufacturer) should last about 70,000 miles on average. You apparently don't use brakes as hard as some do so you happened to get some extra mileage out of yours.

Replacement brake pads/rotors/shoes/drums will not last as long as the OEM ones did unless you spend the extra money and not only have them professionally installed, but purchase the top-tier replacement parts as well. The top-tier brand will probably carry a lifetime warranty so if you still own the vehicle next time it needs brakes, you'll get them for free. Well, the parts anyway.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
