Auto Parts: Engine mount, auto part store, oem design

Question
Does it make much difference on the manufacture of an engine mount. If I buy the engine mounts from a Canadian dealer or Canadian auto part store they cost $150 to $200 each. Or I can buy ANCHOR engine mounts from many US websites for $30 each (yes they are the same part number everything is Canada cost more) Which brands of engine mounts are good?

Answer
Hi Joanna,

well, since it's not really a safety issue, the only question you need to ask yourself is how soon do you want to replace them again?

The OEM mount and the aftermarket (Anchor) mount may look the same, but I'd doubt that they are equals. Aftermarket items are manufactured to be less expensive than their OEM counterparts. How do you think they are able to sell something that is identical to a $200.00 mount for $30.00? Because it only 'looks' the same. The materials used are certainly lower quality than the original mount or the new OEM mount.

My advice would be:
If you plan to keep the vehicle and you are really bugged about having a broken motor mount, replace it with the OEM design and give yourself the piece-of-mind that a new, well made, replacement part will offer you.

If you plan to sell the vehicle or the broken motor mount doesn't bother you that much, then replace with the Anchor brand. That way when it snaps as your pulling out of Wal*Mart trying to beat the light, you won't be no surprised.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
