Auto Parts: Weird Noise, dodge ram 1500, 4x4 pickup

Question
Hey,

I have a 5.9L V8 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 pickup and recently I've started hearing a weird noise from my engine compartment, it sounds like the rotor is spinning in the cap and wobbling, I've replaced the rotor with one Auto zone said was for my truck, however it is still doing it, the plugs, and wires were all in great shape, so I left those. Since I've replaced the cap and rotor the lights on the interior of the cab are flickering, and the battery guage is moving back and fourth. Ever since the sound started I've been feeling a lag in acceleration, and the sound is louder when going over bumps...if that helps any. Any suggestions would be helpful :D. Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hi Rob,

Sorry for the delay, I intentionally held-off answering your question so I could think about it a little more and consult a friend. We both agree that we don't have enough info to even make a guess. That is very unusual for us!

It sounds to me like there is definitely an issue, but if you replaced the cap and rotor and tightened everything properly, you can probably rule that out. If there is some additional information or circumstances or whatever, even if it doesn't seem important, that information could help me come up with at least a plan of attack for you. How about audio or video? Would it be possible for you to take a short audio/video clip and email it to me? (knuckle@knucklebusters.us)

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
