Auto Parts: tail lights, volvo 240 wagon, volvo 240

my 1990 volvo 240 wagon has four separate lenses on each side of the rear of the car.  only three work - the top on both sides do not.  they have bulbs, etc.  but they don't work.  please, what are they for?  thank you

Hi Barbara,

I'm going to assume you have a WAGON model based on only having four light pods. The uppermost lens on either side of the vehicle shows park/lamp and brake activation. If they are not illuminating when the brake is depressed and when the parklights are activated, either the bulbs are bad or the IC board on the back of the assembly is bad.
