Auto Parts: swapping engines from a chevy lumina apv, chevy lumina apv, lumina apv

I have a 92 chevy lumina car with a 3.1 liter in it and the tranmission is out and I have a 92 lumina apv van with a 3.8 liter in it and the engine is bad, is there anyway I can put the engine from the car to the van, would I have to change manifolds so it stays a 3.8liter?

Hi Ed,

Unfortunately, no. Lumina cars were NOT manufactured in '92 with the 3800 option. Lumina CARS didn't have the 3800 option until '98.

Will it fit? I couldn't say either way because our interchange program does not support that particular swap. My best guess would be to say no, it won't work. It'll probably fit, but you'd have to replace the entire engine harness and ECM from the 3800 donor vehicle as well as the fuel pump and exhaust system. I wouldn't think it would be worth the time/investment.
