Auto Parts: 1994 Acura Legend Tachometer, 1994 acura legend, acura legend

Question
Just picked up this Legend, so I don't know the history, and everything works fine. The tach with the ign. off reads 400rpm, not zero, and at speed seams to be a steady and consistent 1000 to 1100rpms high. Is it a electrical problem, bad tach, or wrong replace tach?

Answer
Hi Jay,

I would say the tach is bad. But that is just a guess. If the needle is not resting on '0' when the key is off, then I'd have to guess the unit is out of calibration. I'm not sure if it can be re-calibrated.

If you are looking to replace, you'll need to have the following information available for the salvage technician you speak with:

Coupe or Sedan?

If Coupe: 'L' or 'LS' model?

If Sedan: 'L', 'LS' 'SE' or 'GS' model?

manual or automatic transmission?

I do not know the availability of the unit you need b/c I do not have enough information.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
