Auto Parts: help on performance parts, mitsubishi spyder, mitsubishi galant

Question
QUESTION: ok so i got this mitsubishi spyder 1997 2.4L NT and i have been trying to buy parts for it like headlights body kit performance parts for the engine etc. on the body parts ive found that parts made for regular eclipse are similar to mine. but im not sure if they are the same. and on the engine parts ive found that the newer models of mitsubishi galant have the 2.4L engine and on the pics they look alike but then again i dont know if they are the same.

so my question is is my spyder a type of hybrid made out of 2 cars and i need to buy galant engine parts and eclipse body parts or im gonna b just hopeless and keep my car stock?

Thx in advance.

Ed.

ANSWER: Hi Ed,

YOu'll likely have to do a lot of shopping online. Try autopartswarehouse.com you may find some stuff there. Jegs is a huge one. Just do some online research and I don't see why you can't find performance parts for a spyder- you can find them for a Neon for heavens sake.

QUESTION: ok i tried both and on autopartswarehouse.com have listed eclipse 2.4l not spyder and im pretty sure that the spyders are the only ones that came out on the 97 models with a 2.4 engine so should i just go shopping for regular eclipse parts or wat?.

heres the listing that they have for 1997 models

and on jegs i couldnt find ne parts for foreign cars i guess they are all about american cars.

and umm another question i guess ne one that has a DSM would know. ive seen regular ecipses with 2.0 lt engine but it says DOHC on it one of my friends told me that those were better then mine and i believe mine its a SOHC (not really sure of this since it doesnt say anything anywhere on the engine). any way i just wanted to know what would be the difference between a DOHC and mine. im just wondering this since i dont know if that engine that i have its worth to b upgraded.

Then again Thx in advance

Answer
Hi Ed,

Sorry for the delayed response.

Again, I don't really know a lot about performance parts so I would say you could try Eclipse parts on the Spyder- you may need to go to an upgrade shop and talk to one of the mechanics there and get their opinion-they would be much more knowledgable about that.

As far as the difference between DOHC and SOHC, you'll get a little more performance out of DOHC because one cam works the intake and the other works the exhaust instead of one working both. You can still put performance parts on a SOHC and get better horsepower and torque and performance than a stock DOHC.
It just depends on what you want.
