Auto Parts: Fiat Bravo 1.6 P Reg - Clutch making rattling noise, clutch plate, fiat bravo

Question
Hi Steve,

Im really hoping you can answer my question. Recently whenever I put my foot down on the clutch to change gear or waiting in first/neutral, I can hear an awful rattling noise which seems to have gotten louder over time. Its not present when my foot is off the clutch when driving or stationary.

Can you help me understand what the problem is? I can put it into gear no problems but its just this noise that Im afraid will get worse over time. Also, if you know what it might be, do you know the type of price range I can expect to pay to fix it?

Please help!

Leo.

Answer
Sounds like your release bearing is going out. This is presses on the pressure plate to release the pressure on the clutch plate so you can idle and shift gears. Should be able to get one for under a hundred dollars. However you have to remove the trans to replace I would recommend replaceing the entire clutch assemble while you have it apart. it will save you time and money in the long run.
