Car Alarms: need to disable alarm on 1999 Mercury Sable

Need to know how to disable alarm system on an old 1999 mercury sable, I had to install a battery to replace a dead battery and when I did the horn sounded again and again, it is an old used car, I don't know how to turn it off and disable it?
