Car Alarms: 2003 hyandai elantra, valet mode, override switch

Question
How do i stop my cars flahers & break lighrs from blinking on off two times every 30 seconds. my foors lock ad well when this happend

Answer
Ok, here are the commonalities for
Japanese OEM/FACTORY alarms.

1. They all depend on a viable, up to snuff
battery. If it detects a 5% drain on it,
car horn honks, headlights flash and
the icon light in the dash would be flashing.

2. The door triggers are how it determines
there is a breach. The dome comes on, the
system detects that, triggers.

If yours is doing this, check all doors for
any ajar issues, or door pin damage etc...

If all is good there, replace the battery
to begin with. NOT RECHARGE the old one,
REPLACE it. That will most often correct the
falsing.

If it's after market, with a siren
and the parking lights flashing, then you may
have similar door trigger issues, along with
shock/impact on the car being detected, and
possibly more depending on the features the
after market alarm came with. Normally, an
installer will place a valet/override switch
under the dash area, or if it's also a remote
starter, there would be an antenna on the widshield.
Inset into most of these would be the override
switch as well.

Then the sequence should be:

KEY ON, PRESS AND HOLD IN THE BUTTON FOR
APPROX. 5-6 SECONDS UNTIL YOU GET A RESPONCE
FROM THE SIREN AND THE LIGHTS.

TURN OFF KEY.

THIS WOULD BE OVERRIDE OR "VALET MODE."

REPEAT THESE STEPS TO GO INTO USER MODE.

DONE.

Again, check these things out before going
into this deeper. It might be easilly addressed.

Good luck with it.
