Car Alarms: Alarm for 1996 Toyota Corolla, toyota corolla, vantage point

Question
My wife is having a problem with her 1996 Corolla. The remote won't disable the alarm or open the doors. We've replaced the battery in the remote, but had no effect. Once the alarm stops the car will start. I've tried disconnecting the battery and allowing a few moments before reconnecting, but the moment the battery is connected, the alarm goes off again. Is the problem with the remote itself? Or perahps the alarm system isn't recieving the signal from the remote?

Answer
Sure the key remote could have lost programming if
power was lost. They can also go bad. So the best
thing here is to go to a local shop
for inspection on these to see if
they need replacing.

I can not do that from my vantage point.

Good luck.
