Car Alarms: 1995 Isuzu Trooper Alarm, isuzu trooper, battery replacement

Question
I have a 1995 Isuzu Trooper with a factory alarm system. Normally, when the alarm is activated or de-activated using the remote, the system will chirp loudly and the parking lights will flash. Now, when the alarm is activated or de-activated using the remote the system chirps so quietly that you can't hear it unless you are paying attention, and the parking lights still flash. There have been no issues (e.g., break-ins, battery replacement, etc.), just one day it started doing this. Is the control unit bad, is the horn bad, or what?

AFTER MARKET SIREN
NOT Factory!
and it sounds as if the siren is finally going bad,
or has water in it, or is badly grounded.
(hard to tell which from here)

Locate the siren under the hood, unscrew it from it's mount,
and pop a small hole in the flute end of the siren.
Then remount and let it drain if there
is water in it. Then let dry and
it should correct the sound.

If no joy, simply replace it.
It is after market for cetain though.

Good luck.
