Car Alarms: Viper 479v, keyless entry systems, car alarms

i have a viper i dnt know what # but  the remote is the 479v with remote starterthething is my old remote stoped working so i bough anew one but  when the old remote stoped working the alarm stays on or armed so every time i try to programe it the alarm starts to sound and i cant programe it what can i dothank you
