Car Alarms: sidewinder 5000, auto parts store, sidewinder

Question
Do all security systems have a valet button? I purchased a 1998 Mitsubishi from an auction. it has a sidewinder 5000 installed on it but I don't have the remote for it. It didn't seem like the alarm was working but when the battery was disconnected it must have resit the alarm and now I can start  my truck.  The manual says to press the valet button but either I can't find it or it doesn't work because I tried pressing every unidentified button I could find and it still won't start. Is there any way I can resolve this problem without having it towed to an expert. Would buying a replacement remote help? can I get one from an auto parts store?
