Car Alarms: Keyless entry issue, subaru legacy outback, key less entry

Question
So I am having an issue with the factory key less entry system with my 1997 Subaru Legacy Outback.  I have had the key less entry disabled for about two years and have had no issues with it starting. Now for some reason it will give me nothing.  I had a mechanic look at it and he thinks it may be just the wire from the ignition to the starter (got no juice when we tested it). We were able to bypass and start it without the that wire however.
Could be that simple or could it have to do with the key less system?  I have been trying to locate a figure of the wiring for it to make sure everything is in place but have not been able to...thank you for your time and help
