Car Alarms: 1998 Pontiac Firebird V6, pontiac firebird, flip switch

Question
i bought my car recently used and there is an aftermarket alarm in it, i have tried multiple things to try resetting the alarm system, everytime i open my door from the outside i have to put my key onto the ON position and hit the button in the glove compartment for the alarm to silence so i can start my car, everytime i disconnect the battery, this issue always reoccurs. Over a very long course of time the alarm will no longer randomly go off. I am in desperate search for an answer to resetting my car alarm to finally getting in my car silently.

Answer
Hmmmm,
Make sure you do the procedure correctly.
Might have missed a step:

PUT IGNITION KEY IN IGNITION,
KEY ON TO JUST BEFORE CRANKING THE ENGINE.
PRESS IN AND HOLD VALET SWITCH
UNTIL YOU GET A RESPONCE
FROM THE ALARM.

KEY OFF.

This should toggle the alarm in and out of
valet/override.

If toggle type switch.
KEY ON, FLIP SWITCH, KEY OFF,
START THE CAR.

I hope this solved it for you.
If not. look forward to removal/replacement
or repair.
