Car Alarms: Ford Vehicle Secuity System, vehicle security system, keyless entry system

Question
I have a 2004 ford escape with a dealer installed Ford Vehicle Security System. The alarm sometimes goes off for no reason and does other strange things. Now I'm having trouble with starting issues and it's suspected that the alarm is disabling the fuel pump. I would like to remove the alarm but keep my keyless entry system. How do I go about this and is there anything I need to restore to original settings?
