Car Alarms: Auto alarm, reputable locksmith, relative questions

Question
I have a used Mustang with aftermarket alarm. I had a second key and fob made at a reputable locksmith. The other day the car was starting and immediately shutting off- my thinking is "car alarm", maybe the chip went bad in this key....so, I go home and a couple hours later come back with the new spare- car runs fine.
A day or so later My son used the 'bad' original key with no problem, so that wasn't it. Then a few days later I get stuck in a parking lot, have the other key brought to me , and neither work. Car starts and immediately shuts off- alarm kill switch? How do I disable this, and is there anything I should try to fix it first?
