Car Alarms: Prime / AMX77 / Avital, alarm locks, no beeps

Question
Setting alarm locks car, does not allow engine to start.
There are no 'beeps' on lock or unlock.  Alarm does not work when trunk or door is open.

It looks a lot like the Valet setting in manual, so I tried to turn this off.  It didn't make any difference.

I recently replaced the battery but everything seemed to work ok afterwards.
System is in a 97 Accord (new) and I think it was installed by A&B Sound.  It is a two button remote.

How do i get the alarm back??
