Car Alarms: alarm, 2005 hyundai tiburon, hyundai tiburon

Question
QUESTION: My son bought a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon SE and we been trying to find out if it has Remote anti-theft alarm system on it he didn't get no remotes with it. we called a dealership and gave them the vin # and they said the car has it and remote keyless entry so he got a remote for it and took it to have it programed and when they did the scan for it they said that no signal was showing up for it and that was usually a bad fuse so we checked all the fuses and they are good.Is there anyway to make sure for certain this car has it on it or do you have any ideal why it would not show up when they did the scan for it? Thank you...........

ANSWER: Likely to be an after market system.
Do you know if there is a siren involved?

QUESTION: I'm not sure because it has never worked since he got the car. If it is an after market system you think thats why it didn't show up when they ran the scan to program it? also shouldn't we be able to find a module or little box with wires plugged into it if its installed and if so where would it be located at because i'm starting to think that it's been disconnected to keep it from working if thats possible.

Answer
It would definately not show up on a "scan".
And sure, the brain box would be wired in
under dash. But you would need to pull the under panel
from the steering column to locate it. The trouble
there is if it is unmaked, then it's going to be hard
to match remotes.

You may have to opt to replace the system with one
you know and are aware of it's functions.
