Car Alarms: Mazda 3 2011 car alarm, mazda 3 hatchback, car alarm system

Question
We just took our Mazda 3 hatchback 2011 to Best Buy to install a remote starter/car alarm system. They called us and told us that the car alarm will only work on the ignition. The installer said that there are no "pins or domes" in the doors for the car alarm to be hooked up to. Therefore the alarm is only good if someone tries to start the car. Is this true? Is this a tactic of Mazda to get you to go to them to install an alarm?

thanks
Chris

Answer
No actually it's Best Buys technicians who are lazy
and are again mistaken about a common door monitoring wire.
Even if they don't know what wire it is, the blame everyone
else but themselves for the inability to use they're imaginations
to solve these common issues.

Let's say they were absolutrly correct in they're assumption
that there was no way to detect the doors (NOT but for argument sake).

Ok, what about the shock sensor that comes with every alarm made, and
how about adding heavy duty pin switches of your own to
assist in a fool proof entry protection monitoring system?
Would this not do what the customer requires even if the car
can't provide a solution for the problem with existing wiring?

But no, it's easier to just blow it off & then
they simply decided to tell you a half truth
and put any other options to rest for them.
Just live with it.

No. :>(

Adding a pin switch to every door may cost a bit more to do,
but totally solves the issue THEY brought up to you.

Tell them the GREEN wire (-) at the BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE)
IS THE DOOR TRIGGER. THIS IS ALSO THE DOMELIGHT SUPERVISION WIRE,
INDIVIDUAL DOOR PINS REST AT (-) AND GO TO (OPEN) WHEN THE DOOR IS
OPENED. Then tell them you'd appreciate it if they finished the
job you paid them to do and not to make excuses for their lack
of professionalism. Go the extra mile to solve the problems
presented.

Good luck with that by the way.
I don't thing there's much chance of
a 10.00 and hour car alarm installer
changing how he does business overnight,
but one can always hope, right?
