Car Alarms: 1998 Deville Delegance Disable factory alarm, aftermarket radio, cadillac deville

Question
I've searched for an hour through other postings on this site but haven't been able to find a definitive answer for my particular situation.

I have a 1998 Cadillac Deville D'elegance I just bought from a friend. It has an aftermarket CD player. He has the remote for the keyless entry/factory alarm but it's not programmed. I took the care to a shop and got an aftermarket alarm put on. The hooked the alarm up to the car horn instead of installing a siren. When I would turn the car off, i had about 10 seconds to get out of the car or the alarm would "go off". Meaning the horn would sound, and lights would flash. Hitting the button on the aftermarket remote would not make the alarm stop sometimes. Only putting the key in door would help.

I had that aftermarket removed and took it to Best Buy. They installed a Viper alarm. The problem I have now is that after I arm the Viper alarm, the alarm sound after about 15-20 minutes for no reason. I can disarm it with the remote and re-arm it, but it does the same thing. The Tech told me that there is an issue with the Factory alarm and there is nothing he can do about it.

My question is, how do I totally take the factory alarm out of the equation? Some have told me it's because I have an aftermarket radio and the alarm is tied into the factory one. Some have said there is a wire in the steering column I need to hook a "Ohm Chip" up to so it ohm's out the factory alarm. I have no clue what to do. Please help....and thanks in advance.

Answer
This system was not completely installed.
There are actully 2 security systems in the car, now 3 since
this Viper was put in.

There is a wire for factory alarm disarm that the installer
should have address during the installation. This controls
the headlight flashing and horn honking part of the system.

It also has the VATS (Passkey) system in it that shuts off
the fuel rail circuit. You would need to address this
part of it only if remote starting.

Take it back and have them complete the job.
If you want to do it yourself, go to www.wirewerx.com
and get the OEM wiring to disable factory systems there
to see where the wire is, and what to do to with it.

Good luck.
