Car Alarms: Cant turn off 1999 Camry Car Alarm, Cant start car, valet mode, don powell

Question
I have been using a spare key for a while for my 1999 Camry
because the electronic one broke a long time ago, and
everything has been going fine until one day the alarm
started going off every time I opened the car and I can't
seem to deactivate it or start the car.

I called the dealership and they told me to disconnect the
red button so I did but the alarm still won't go off. Then I
saw that you recommend holding the red button so I tried
reconnecting the button but it is very hard. I was fumbling
with the nut clamp screw thing and wires trying to reconnect
it when a short little metal piece that looks like half a
staple came out. In the end I could not reconnect the alarm
button so I don't know what to do.

I thought disconnecting the red flashing button would fix
the problem but now I fear the dealership has duped me into
needing an expensive new repair.

Please help

Answer
The alarm needs to be put in valet mode. It sounds like you removed the LED. If you still have the little button somewhere under the dash you can turn on the key and press the button untill the alarm turns off. If this does not work you will need to get another remote or deactivate the alarm. I will send you instructions and support for this service for $10.00 payable to Paypal. If you want this service I will send you a Paypal link. This is a moderately hard job and will take about 30 min to do.
