QUESTION: We got the car started so it doesn't sound like the transponder POPPED. If the transponder POPPED would the car still start?

ANSWER: 1610 Denote "transponder issue".
So if the key has caused a mechanical fault,
and you can't turn the key on, how did you start it?

QUESTION: Using the new key, we turned the key to the on position for 5 seconds then to the off position repeating process 2 more times. This re-activated the new key and the car started. Then this morning my wife tried to go to work and started the car but the car wouldn't go out of park. The manual says to push the shirt release button but this doesn't do anything. Thanks Gary

Answer
I know nothing about the workings for resetting it.
Try the guys in my Forum at
INSTALLSUPPORT.com to see if they do.

Robert is the forum there and will
likely have more on factory systems then
I do. My expertise is in after market systems
operations.

I hope they can help solve it for you.
