Car Alarms: Lost car alarm remote 98 chevy blazer, quick responce, chevy blazer

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I bought a used 1998 chevy blazer recently, and lost the remote keyless entry/alarm/remote starter buttons keychain. It was armed when this was lost. I have a spare, and when I tried to get it started it wouldn't start and of course the alarm keeps going off. We fiddled with it enough to get it started and were able to drive home, thankfully, but it still keeps going off. From reading other reviews, we found a valet button, but it doesn't seem to turn it off? Do we have to do a trick first, or hold it in a certain amount of time, or do something while holding it? How do we turn off the alarm to drive in peace without the remote!! Please help! Thank you SO MUCH!

QUESTION: Thank you for the quick responce. I appreciate it, however, I did read many of the q & a already posted, but it did not work.
I tried holding down the valet button for even as long as 5 min straight with the key in the ignition in the right before starting position(without starting though right?Right before started position?) as advised.
I tried holding the valet butten down for several minutes, with the key there, without the key there, having the key in that position for 10 min then holding down the button for several minutes, same time, many possible button holding key in ignition possibilities, but no chirp and no light going on solid. it still keeps going
(when I reopen the door or start(it DOES start) it to drive..it goes off for 3 cycles then I get a break unless I trigger it again)
..I don't know if the fact that somehow we got the engine to start and drove it home from 2 hours away last night had an effect on our ability to turn it off this usual way or what.
I really need to be able to drive the car without the alarm going off, and am desperate to turn it off. I feel like I have tried everything. We even unhooked the battery for a few minutes, then hooked it back up  which is how I think we may have gotten it start to drive home, but the alarm is still loud and strong.
The neighbors must hate me now! Please help! I can't find a past Q & A that deals with this particular situation, where we CAN drive it, but not without the alarm going off, it's awful & scary! Pleas & thank you so much!

Answer
Ok, here's what I know...

Normally, putting the key in the drivers side door lock,
turning to the left, then to the right all the way
will unlock and disarm/reset the "OEM factory"
alarm system.

However, if your system is after market:

The Parking Lights Would Flash, A siren Is Going Off,
An LED Is Flashing As Well.

To start with, you can identify which after market
system you have by using the FCC. ID.# found
on the back of each remote. Try a site
like WWW.REMOTES4SALE.COM
to track down the one you have in your hand.

If this is after market, it can be removed.
If this is what you want to do, the wiring needs
to be extracted carelfully.
Please go to the WIREWERX so I can get you the
info you require to fix your situation.

And lastly, in this GM vehicle, the PASSLOCK II system may be engaged.
It may also honk the horn and flash the headlights.
See your options at www.GMPASSLOCK.com for this eventuality.

Good luck with this issue.
