Car Alarms: carbine alarm, nissan 240sx, beep sound

Question
Hello, I have been driving a nissan 240sx for the last year with an older carbine alarm installed. Sometimes when I hit the lock/unlock button there's no sound, and sometimes when I hit the button it makes the beep sound. What determines wether or not it makes the beep and how do I control if it does or not? Its the ELV777K remote. Thanks! Ian

Answer
Hard to say without inspection. Could be a
short in the eprom for the alarm.

It also could be seeing a delay on the dome light/door tigger
that would report an "open circuit" by beeping back after
the remote is pressed.

Try this:
open door, close door, and immediately arm the alarm.
If you get a chirp back after arming, that may mean
the dome light is still on.

If you do the same thing, but wait until the light goes out
and then arm it, my bet there is that it now has determined
that the door is closed and allows for standard operation.

Not sure though that the alarm has a on/off capability
to manipulate the "current sensing", but it's a possibility.
See www.MAGNADYNE.com for the home page for Carbine
to see if you can get a manual on it.

Good luck with it
