Car Alarms: New starter, now cant start car because of starter kill, google search, red spring

Question
I have 1997 Honda Accord. There was an alarm system on the car since before I bought it, I believe one of the Viper ones (unfortunately). We deactivated the alarm last year, so I've just been using the key to get in and out. I don't even have the remote anymore. We just installed a new starter yesterday, and it reactivated the alarm system. Now car won't start, lights just blink when I put key in ignition and try to turn on the car. We tried putting the key in and turning it all the way (just before crank position) and then pressing the override button below (I believe it's a red spring button), but that doesn't do anything. We even turned the key, let the lights blink for close to 15 mins (we were advised by another mechanic that some alarm systems have a 15 minute delay before they will reprogram themselves) then push the button then try to turn car on and it still wont work. Any other suggestions on how to override this kill switch????
