Car Alarms: 1999 camaro car alarm, car horn, period time

QUESTION: My son has a 1999 Camaro and it has a factory alarm. He activates his alarm after he returns home. When we are inside the house, a few hours after he gets home, his alarm will "beep" the horn twice and stop...then a few hours later, it does it again. Is the car battery going bad or what would we need to look for? Thanks in advance for your expert advice.

ANSWER: I'd say yes on the battery. The alarm depends on a certain level
of battery power. When it detects a drain, it might have that reaction.

Try changing out the battery to see if that corrects the
trouble.

The alarm can be reporting status of the system. If it
had gone off during the period time he was away from it.

Hard to say. I'd have it looked at to determine what it is you
have there, and learn how to use and control it properly.
