Car Alarms: Glitchy Audiovox PRO9801XR, life span, toyota tacoma

Question
I recently bought a '09 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport that came with an after-market Audiovox Pursuit Model PRO9801XR starter.  The lock/unlock fobs work fine, but the starter fob only works occasionally, even the lock/unlock feature.  I replaced the starter fob battery, but there's no difference.  I had the ground checked & that's OK. It actually seems to work better when the outside temp is above freezing.  I've considered ordering a replacement fob ($70+ bucks), but thought I would seek your advice first.   Thank you in advance.

Answer
Yes, it does sound like the remote starter's remote
is damaged. Not knowing the Audiovox line, I will assume
it's a 2 way remote, LCD style. This can happen.
Remotes with 2 way capability do have a relatively short
life span when in everyday use.

Sure, get a new one and move on to the next thing I say!

Good luck with it.
