Car Alarms: Viper 5901 problems?, late saturday night, faulty sensor

Question
I had my viper 5901 installed in November on my 1994 mustang, and I haven't had any problems, until this past weekend. Late Saturday night the alarm triggered, after disarming the alarm, it went back off a second time. I disarmed and rearmed it again and it seemed to work. I was to sleepy to see which sensor was tripped, I looked out the window and saw nothing was wrong with the car so I went back to sleep. On Sunday I went out to start the car and the battery was dead.  After jump starting the car it seemed back to normal, but I had the battery/ charging system checked out since I had just replaced the battery a few weeks ago(it had sat almost all winter and the battery was dead) The guy told me there is a 2.9 amp drain on the system. I am not sure if I should be looking for a faulty sensor/relay stuck open or if I should ignore the alarm and look for the problem elsewhere. The other thing I noticed is that when I do arm the alarm the indicator light blinks once per second which seemed much faster then I remember it blinking. Any help would be appreciated.
