Car Alarms: Tahoe panic/alarm, chevy tahoe, passlock 2

Question
QUESTION: 2001 Chevy Tahoe (stock, no aftermarket alarm).  Horn honks with no signal from remote (key was removed from fob).  This seems to happen most often when I'm opening the door.  Please help--this is driving me crazy.

ANSWER: What do you mean by "KEY WAS REMOVED FROM FOB"?

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: The fob (remote) was taken off the key ring and left at home.  The alarm or panic system still activated even though the remote was far away.  This was done to eliminate the "sender" side of things as the problem.

Answer
Ok, well, this vehicle depends on the lock in the drivers or passenger door
to be either physically turned or remotely opened. It controls the alarm.
Replace the key fob with another just like it.

It's either that, or surgery will be needed to
discontinue the alarm function, and a bypass kit is needed
to circumvent the PASSLOCK 2 system in this truck.

Best bet, get a replacement remote ASAP.
