Car Alarms: broken prolock alarm, butt connector, starter wire

Question
Hi,
I saw your note to the guy with the Volvo and the bad PROLOCK system, you advised to cut it out himself, I would love to cut the one I have out of my 96 Jimmy (car is stuck in my drive, and we need it badly) It has broken off at the key under the dash and will not re-connect. Would you be able to describe what needs to be done? I am a pretty good mechanic, but don't usually work on these alarm systems.
thank you for your help.

Steve

Answer
Car Alarms: broken prolock alarm, butt connector, starter wire
starter kill
Ok, not to hard.
Drop the under panel below the steering column
and locate the prolock wiring. Trace the 2 wires from the
PROLOCK going to the starter wire (YELLOW) in the ign.
switch and cut them. Then get 1 yellow butt connector
and put the 2 free ends of the starter wire back together again.

Done.

The rest of the prolock wires can no be clipped one
by one until extracted, and then tape off any exposed
wiring.

Then you'll be right as rain and on the
road. ;>)

See attached pic.

Have a great day.
