Car Alarms: door locks, site search engine, light flashes

Question
I just bought a 1997 avalon, the remote will lock the doors but won't unlock them. Can you help me with this? The battery is good on the remote because the light flashes on the remote when I push the button. It's an after market alarm system. Thanks for any help you can give me.
