Car Alarms: Hellfire alarm help!!!, pontiac firebird, gm vats

Question
We have a 1990 Pontiac firebird with a hellfire alarm system installed in it.  The other day we went to start the car and when we pushed in the clutch the starter engaged itself without even turning the key.  We thought it might be a bad ignition switch so we pulled out the old ignition switch and with no ignition switch in the car therefore no key, the starter still engages the starter as so as the clutch is depressed.  Cannot figure out how this is possible.  Please respond with any ideas as I am stumped.

Answer
Probably not the helfire. It's more likely
the GM VATS system is engaged and giving you troubles.

I would have this looked at by a car alarm guy sure, but it's
more likely a GM issue to be nailed down by your local
dealer or mechanic.

Helfire (Now defunct) did not make a remote starter unit,
so it would not have that capability.

Have this evaluated by a mechanic.

Good luck.
