Car Alarms: Hyundai Elantra 2007, hyundai elantra 2007, hyundai elantra

Question
QUESTION: Hi Alarmtek,

I just recently purchased a used elantra from a dealer and now the alarm keeps going off. I cant find any part of the car which is open, but it has been quite windy. Could the wind set the alarm off? If so, can I reduce the sensitivity of the alam myself?

I think it is a factory alarm.
Please help. It's really annoying.
Regards

ANSWER: Not certain of the system, but MOST knock/impact
sensors have a wheel inset into it to turn up or down
(counter clockwise is down).

Locate the sensor under the dash and turn down or
simply unplug it. Should be a little oblong box
wire tied up high under the dash, and would
blink when it detects vibration.

Good luck.

QUESTION: Hi,
I tried to have a look for the sensor, but I can't seem to locate it.
The other thing i have noticed is when "arming" the alarm, the indicator lights aren't flashing once to show the alarm is armed. According to the manual, one of the doors, boot or bonnet is open. I have checked this and there is nothing that has been left open or jamming this. But when un-arming the alarm, the indicator lights flash twice(as per the manual).

The car locks the doors, but doesn't show that it is armed.
Is there a way that i can reset the alarm?

Answer
It appears from your expaination, that the
after market car alarm is in service mode.

Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area, usually to the
left of the leg drilled into a hidden away spot,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes off, and the siren chirps twice.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should reset the alarm.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to valet mode.

That should do it.
Let me know what happens.
