Car Alarms: jeep alarm, jeep grand cherokee, grand cherokee

The alarm on my 98 jeep grand cherokee started going off randomly for no reason.When i arm the system the red indicator light on the dash will flash very fast, in which case the alarm tends to go off for no reson, or the light will not flash at all,in which case the alarm will not arm. Any suggestions would be appreciated
