Car Alarms: 2006 Chevy Malibu Car Alarm, 2006 chevy malibu, chevy malibu

Question
My 2006 Chevy Malibu MT has recently started sounding it's door lock alarm system.  It starts with 3 short beeps by the horn followed by the horn honking 6-9 times very loudly.  The lights flash on both short and long horn sounds.  It usually starts in the middle of the night and cannot be deactivated by the remote system.  I've tried leaving the doors unlocked, locking the doors and removing the battery from the remote.  There is no pattern to the frequency.  It will repeat itself in as long as hour long intervals or as often as every 2-5 minutes. It is a factory alarm system.  The car has been with a Chevy dealership for diagnostic resolution but will not replicate the problem for them.  They've tried showering it with water, testing each door individually and say I need to leave it with them at least another 2-3 days so they can continue the process of elimination. Apparently the alarm can't be disconnected so for a short term solution I've had the horn disconnected (unsafe).  The car has less than 60,000 miles on it and is causing me and my neighbors to lose sleep.  Any ideas?
