Car Alarms: Ford F150 Alarm Problems, resident technicians, alarmtek

Question
I have a 2000 Ford F150 that I bought new.  When purchased, it had an alarm system installed. I think the dealer installed it after market.  Anyway, I've always had problems with the alarm going off unexpectedly.  Sometimes it happens when i unlock the car.  Sometimes when I try to start the car.  It seems to be happening more frequently, and I'm always having to reset it (clicking the remote control)  The alarm is not the horn, rather it sounds like an ambulance.  It's also a pain even when it's working working "properly", because after i get in the truck if I don't start it quickly enough, it won't start and I have to reset it again (making the chirping noise).  The dealer has been no help, they say it is all "integrated" in the electical system.

All I want to do is disarm it, but without disabling the remote control key access.  There is a little red "button" sticking out from the dashboard below the steering wheel.  From reading other posts here, it looks like this may be part of the system.

Thanks for your help.

Answer
Away for the Holidays!
But the forum is still open.

Please, if you would, restate this question
in my installers forum at www.installsupport.com
and see if my resident technicians there can assist
with this project. (ask for Robert!)

He can go into a more detailed assistance
you might need on this project.

Good luck there,
and Merry Christmas!
