Car Alarms: 2003 jeep factory alarm, jeep grand cherokee, alarmtek

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2003 jeep grand Cherokee with one remote for the factoy alarm which doesn't work. My problem is the alarm goes off at random when opening the door with the key (horn blairs lights flash) only way to stop it since I don't have a working remote is to put the key in the ignition and start the car, this becomes very embarrassing and annoying how can I stop it? Bypass? Remove ? Reset? Anything as long as it doesn't cost an arm and leg, I don't care if it doesn't work anymore I just don't want it going off for no reason like its doing.

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.
