Car Alarms: alarm remote problem, black widow alarm, black widow

I have an older black widow alarm in my 02 ranger.  The problem I am having is the remote will not activate or deactivate the alarm unless the remote is held next to the main box inside the car.  The battery in the remote is new.  Thx

Like most things, it's seen better days.
It appears the processor is not transmitting through the antenna
anylonger.

My bet is it's time to update the Black Widow for another system.
