Car Alarms: Viper 130XV Problem, keyless entry systems, ribbon cable

Question
I have a Viper 130XV remote start installed in an 03 Honda Accord and it has stopped working. It was installed when the car was new. It cycles through 3 tries but does not start. I was able to narrow it down to a small box with a key in it along with a small PCB with ribbon cable wrapped around the key head. The car will start when I squeeze the box or shift the key a little but I can't get it to keep working. Any ideas what the cause is?
