Car Alarms: Honda Pilot 2003 alarm, alarmtek, honda pilot

Question
QUESTION: When we ock the car thereby setting the factory alarm using the key fob, about 10 minutes later the alarm sounds. Fob problem? Alarm system problem? happen to anyone else?

thanks

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: We did not put an aftermarket alarm on, it came with it new from the dealer. By "going off" I mean horn sounds, lights blink, etc. like you oushed the panic button. One other item to note, the driver side back seat door actuator is out. Realized it went out about the same time (roughly)as the alarm issue showed up. Could it be the door actuator not functioning with the others that is tripping the alarm?

Answer
That piece of information then would lead me to answer yes,
the door actuator is likely to be drawing some amperage,
which "factory" alarms would react to by triggering,
reporting the perceptible battery drain but honking
and headlights flashing.

Try repairing the actuator first before you try to disable the
system entirely. The alarm is doing it's designed function.

All things being equal, you probably nailed the issue
without my advice! :>)
