Car Alarms: 1999 Toyota immobilized by Securikey+, securikey, alarm button

Question
Before this incident my wife has never activated the alarm using the Securikey+ system.  Anyway, she entered and started the car engine momentarily when her finger slipped on the Securikey+ key and she mistakenly depressed the green button.  At that point, the horn alarm went off continuously.  Because she was flustered at that point, she depressed all three buttons on the Securikey+ key (lock, unlock and green buttons - though probably not at the same time) and eventually got the horn alarm to stop.  At this point however, the car was totally immobilized........nothing worked.

When I got to the car I found that the red alarm button to the left side of the steering wheel on the dashboard was blinking.  I am able to open the car only by manually using the key.  I tried your suggested solution of putting the Securikey+ key into the ignition, turning it to the "on" position and then pushing in the alarm button starting from the valet position.  Nothing happened.  The alarm button did not light up at all.  As I understand your previous instructions to others, it is supposed to light up red (constantly at that point) thus disarming the alarm system and the car should be able to be started at that point.  That solution did not work in this instance and the car remains immobilized.  Any solution you could offer would be a life saver at this point.

Thank you in advance for your help.
