Car Alarms: Alarm automatically activates when I shut door, fcc id number, pin switch

Question
I just bought a 98 Dodge Dakota with a Pursuit alarm system. I noticed that when I turn the car off, get out and shut the door, the alarm activates automatically with out pressing the on my remote. I went to open my door to get something from inside and the alarm sounded. My question is, is there any way to keep my alarm from activating without using the remote? I don't get why theres a button on my remote to turn the alarm on when it does it automatically anyway. I hope you understand my question and thank you for taking the time to look at it.

Answer
All alarms are different when it comes to feature settings.
you will need to look in you manual for the
"passive" or "active" arming settings to
make the change. The procedures and possible
pin switch settings all differ from manufacturer
to manufacturer.

You will need to ID your system, and then aquire
the book on it if you do not have yours currently to
get this done.

Good hunting.
(hint use your remote fcc ID number to
identify the system and a site that does replacements)
