Car Alarms: Silencer problem, jeep grand cherokee, brain box

Question
I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee with both the factory and Silencer Alarms installed.  Since this is a previous owner installation I do not know the details on the system.  For the past couple of months the system will start to cycle with the door locks cycling through lock and unlock, click lock, click unlock, on an on.  Some times the alarm will engage, sometimes it will not.

How can I track this to see if it is the Silencer, Factory Alarm or some other electrical problem.  Since I do not have a wiring diagram I don't know the correct procedure to disconnect either.  BTW the valet switch LED does not function I believe that when the switch is "in" the Silencer system is disengaged...but again I am not sure.

Please help since this is my wife's everyday driver and she is very upset with this.

Thanks in advance,

Answer
Likely to be a badly grounded wire as that is the effect
you would see on the locks if the system is getting an
intermittent ground.

I can not speak to the Grand Cherokee door locks
OEM system if it is malfunctioning, but my first inclination is to
unplug the Silencer for at leat 72 hours to observe
the door locks. If that issue goes away, re ground
all ground wires going to the Silence (black I believe,
and also check the siren under the hood too.)

Plug back in and if it corrected the door locks
issue, there you go. If not, time to scrap
the Silencer for an upgrade I think.

Look fot the brain box up high in the drivers
side dash cavity.

Good luck.
