Car Alarms: 2001 Ford Explorer Sport alarm, ford explorer sport, antenna wire

I have 2001 Explorer Sport 4WD with Ford alarm (three button remote-lock, unlock, panic) After some work was done on car remote's range seems to be inconsistant. Sometimes remote will work at a long distance, other times I have use keyless entry to get in car and hit "unlock" button inside car to start it. I had both fobs checked and they are both perfect with new batteries. Is there an antenna wire on alarm system box? Could it be loose? If so, Where is it usually located so I can check?
