Car Alarms: Central locking car alarm, google search, transmitter programming

Hi,
I have installed an alarm in my car that is linked up to my central locking remote. This issue i have is that my remote broke so i had to unplug the alarm as using the key to unlock the car does not stop the alarm. I now have a new remote and would like to know how i synchronise it with the alarm so that it works?
